Terminology:
No Arms - One Arm - Two Arms
Although most chairs and settees have two arms, there
are some that do not have any at all.
Upholstered Front Back
- refers to the fabric on the back of the chair or
settee facing towards the front. Where your back leans
against.
Back Cushions (Reversible)
- some chairs and settees have back cushions that can
be reversed or turned around.
Outside Back
- refers to the fabric on the outside of the back of
the chair or settee. Is at opposite to the front of
the back.
Upholstered Seat (No
Cushion)
- some chairs or settees do not have seat cushions.
Instead the seating is fully upholstered using springing, elastic
webbing and foam still making the seat comfortable.
Upholstered Seat (Reversible
Cushion)
- Some chairs and settees have seat cushions. Often,
they are reversible meaning they can be turned upside
down on the seating.
Skirt
- Is also known as a valance. It is the hem or hanging
fabric that is sometimes attached around the perimeter
of the base. The most common is the Box Pleated Skirt.
Large Pattern On Fabric
- This refers to a fabric with a large pattern. If you
are using a fabric with a large floral design the pattern
needs to be centred on the chair or settee. Therefore
this procedure requires more fabric.
